The Earthworks Construction Training course addresses gaps identified in the scoping of Earthworks Construction Scoping report (January 2024) in a language and at a level that can be understood by all on-site construction personnel, regardless of technical background.
The Civil Construction Technical Training Program (CCTTP) has been developed for industry by Major Road Projects Victoria, within the Major to increase Transport Infrastructure Authority, in partnership with the North East Link Project and the Victorian Department of Transport and Planning. It aims to increase technical capability and improve the quality of road and bridge civil construction by delivering standardised technical information and training. This program will create training that is accessible and industry‐led for new and existing Major Transport Infrastructure Authority and Contractor workforce. The Earthworks Construction Training Course is part of the CCTTP.
The course highlight and provide information on:
· Best practice methods
· Current technical standards and specifications
· Key roles, requirements and approaches.
The learning path for the modules focuses on the following functions that apply to each key topic:
· The WHAT
· The WHO
· The WHY
· The HOW
· The WHEN.
This course aims to enhance participants’ basic earthworks and formation good practice knowledge and provide confidence when undertaking earthworks and road formation. These are identified as the understanding of:
· The relevant technical specifications and requirements for earthworks construction
· Basic construction methods and equipment
· Environmental requirements
· Health and safety requirements
· Importance of quality control
All staff involved in on-site construction, including:
· Project Managers
· Contract Managers
· Quality Assurance Managers
· Safety Managers
· Environment Advisor
· Site Engineer
· Project Engineers
· Construction Managers – Engineers, Superintendents, Site Supervisors/Foreman/Leading hands
· Engineering Managers
· Graduate Engineers
· Surveillance Cadets/Officers/Managers.
The following instructions should be followed by all MRPV personnel (including NELP and WGT) when registering for training.
