Our transport industry and NTRO stand at an inflection point. An upwards move will lead to safe, sustainable and resilient transport spanning land, sea and air. First amongst them is seizing the opportunities which data and AI offer. Importantly, though, data is not an end in itself, but a means of creating the insights needed to drive effective solutions and system improvements. At NTRO we see this as being so important that we have invested significantly in the space and are re-platforming the organisation around these digital capabilities.
While pursuing the new, we must not lose sight of the long-term outcomes which the community and leaders expect from transport systems. Safety, sustainability, resilience and value for money have been and will be at the top of that list. Our elected members are seeking heightened economic productivity and social connection from the transport system.
I am looking forward to seeing how the digital trajectory can help us solve some of the intractable and enduring problems that we face.
