Chief Operating Officer
Dr Richard Yeo has 35 years research and management experience in the roads sector. He is the Chief Operating Officer for the National Transport Research Organisation (NTRO) with oversight of national innovation programs covering Transport Futures, Safer Smarter Infrastructure, Sustainability and Materials Performance, Asset Performance, Infrastructure Measurement, Data and Technology and Structures and Certification.
Richard has held key roles with Austroads and VicRoads as well as in commercial private sector consulting. He is an Adjunct Professor (Practice) with Monash University and maintains close involvement with initiatives such as Industrial Transformation Hubs and other academic research. Richard is involved in several national and international standards committees covering topics of asset management and digital engineering. Richard is the Chair of the Australian Chapter of the Road Engineering Association of Asia and Australasia (REAAA) and a Director of the NTRO Indian joint venture Indian Road Survey and Management (IRSM), and NTRO New Zealand.
Richard graduated from Monash University in 1988 (BE (Hons)) and he completed his Master of Engineering in road construction quality at RMIT University in 2000. Richard continued his research and completed his Doctor of Philosophy in 2012 while progressing to General Manager Research and Development and Executive Manager with the Australian Road Research Board (ARRB). In his role as Program Manager with Austroads he had oversight of the national research programs covering pavements, surfacing's, bridges, tunnels, project delivery and asset management. He was appointed as Chief Operating Officer with ARRB, now the NTRO in April 2018.Richard's main areas of technical expertise are in asset management, materials technology, pavement structures and performance applied to transport infrastructure.
