iPAVE 4

iPAVE 4 is here. This world-first technology is part of the newest member of NTRO's infrastructure measurement fleet.

iPAVE 4 - the future of pavement assessment - will be shortly on the road in New Zealand, where it will be surveying the NZ State Highway network.

Our services

Our fleet leverages cutting-edge technology and decades of expertise to deliver comprehensive road condition assessment services. From ensuring safety and compliance to supporting long-term asset management, our innovative solutions empower road agencies and local governments to make informed decisions about their networks.

Road Network Condition

NTRO collects pavement and road condition surface data across Australia and New Zealand using a fleet of specialised vehicles, including Network Survey Vehicles (NSV), Intelligent Pavement Assessment Vehicles (iPAVe), and others. This fleet assesses functional and structural road conditions such as roughness, rutting, cracking, texture, strength, and skid resistance.

Collected data can support asset management and road safety assessments, like NetRisk 2 evaluations.

Dilapidation Studies

NTRO conducts dilapidation studies to assess changes in road conditions over time, focusing on pavement surfaces, signs, linemarking, and video records. These studies are crucial for construction projects involving heavy vehicles, such as road upgrades or windfarm developments.

High-quality surveys and reports ensure accurate data to identify deterioration, necessary repairs, and cost allocation post-construction.

Road Construction Quality and Compliance Testing

NTRO delivers quality and compliance testing for new road construction, focusing on roughness standards like the International Roughness Index (IRI). With over 25 years of expertise, NTRO’s Ride Quality Test vehicles (RQT) ensure construction meets contract benchmarks, providing certificates of compliance required by road authorities.

Retroreflectivity Testing

Clear line markings enhance road safety, but their visibility declines within two to three years, especially on high-traffic roads. NTRO’s iLINE offers a cost-efficient solution for monitoring line marking conditions at road speed without closures.

iLINE identifies roads needing re-marking and integrates with data from survey vehicles for a comprehensive safety assessment.

Pavement Strength Testing

NTRO’s Intelligent Pavement Assessment Vehicles (iPAVE) revolutionise road asset management by measuring pavement strength in a single pass. The iPAVE captures deflection, video imagery, and pavement fatigue data, pinpointing areas at risk of failure.

Additional benefits include traffic-speed operation, enhanced safety, and cost efficiency. NTRO also operates Heavy and Falling Weight Deflectometers (FWD/HWD), suitable for highways, railways, and airport runways.
