Mr Rod James was appointed as New Zealand National Manager for NTRO in November 2023. Rod is an experienced general manager with a 30+ career in transport and infrastructure including:
- Cardiff and South Glamorgan Council traffic and transport group
- State Highway Manager roles with Transit NZ and the New Zealand Transport Agency in the Wellington, Central and Bay of Plenty regions.
- Major transport project leadership (client, designer and constructor organisations) including as project / program director, board member and chair.
- ITS industry leadership as President of ITS New Zealand, and through the management of multiple ITS and E-Tolling / road pricing projects in New Zealand, Australia, UK, Hong Kong, and USA.
- Consulting Business leadership in NZ and Australia with Cardno, Hyder, and Booz Allen Hamilton.
Rod graduated from the University of Glamorgan (South Wales) in 1990 with an Honours degree in Civil Engineering and commenced work with Cardiff City Council. He moved to New Zealand in 1996 where he completed a Master of Business Administration at Massy University (New Zealand) in 2002.

With a particular focus on delivery, and getting things done efficiently and effectively through empowered teams that thrive on achieving great results for the traveling public and the planet.
