ARRB is embarking on an exciting new project for Austroads to ready Australian and New Zealand roads for automated driving.

ARRB is embarking on an exciting new project for Austroads to ready Australian and New Zealand roads for automated driving (Austroads reference: FPI6258).

We will provide an investment roadmap to ensure the physical infrastructure on our roads can meet the needs of autonomous vehicles in the foreseeable future.

The project has four phases. In the first phase, we will develop a set of plausible automated driving scenarios followed by identifying a range of corresponding investment options in the second phase.

In the third phase, we will evaluate the economic merit of all potential investment options using a CBA model.

Finally, we will synthesise the findings in the preceding phases to advise transport agencies on the optimal investment levels and priorities.

If you would like to have your views considered in this project, we would be most interested to hear from you.
