NTRO bolsters road safety credentials with iRAP accreditation

NTRO road safety professional Graeme Kashmer

NTRO has added further iRAP accreditation to its credentials to help deliver improved road safety, including infrastructure risk assessments.

NTRO has bolstered its road safety credentials to help local government and state transport agencies, with staff member Graeme Kashmer attaining important iRAP accreditation.

Graeme is now one of a handful of road safety professionals in Australia who is iRAP accredited in coding, analysis and reporting.

iRAP is the International Road Assessment Program – the umbrella program for road assessment programs worldwide working to save lives.

Applied in Australia as AusRAP, it provides an assessment of the risk on a road through Star Ratings where 5 Stars is the safest and 1 Stars the least safe.

“This is a great achievement for Graeme and NTRO," NTRO Infrastructure Safety Leader Emily McLean said.

"This means we now have three accredited staff members and a dedicated team of staff to deliver infrastructure risk assessments throughout Australia and overseas.

"As iRAP’s Centre of Excellence in Australia, it’s important to us that the next generation of professionals are engaged in road safety, developing new initiatives that build on our history and delivering AusRAP Star Ratings, as we work towards a vision of no deaths and serious injuries on our roads by 2050.”

NTRO has already assisted providing tens of thousands of kilometres of road infrastructure risk assessment throughout Australia and internationally, helping ensure safer roads and informed investment decisions for the local governments, state transport agencies and other road operators as we work towards a road network with no deaths or serious injuries by 2050.

If your council or road agency would like to know more about how AusRAP risk assessments can help make your road network safer, please contact NTRO’s leader for Infrastructure Safety, Emily McLean, at emily.mclean@ntro.org.au for further information.
