NTRO has further strengthened its road safety expertise to support local government and state transport agencies, with staff member Damian Rodrigo achieving important iRAP accreditation for coding.
Damian joins a select group of road safety professionals in Australia who hold iRAP coding accreditation, expanding NTRO's capacity to deliver comprehensive road infrastructure assessments.
iRAP is the International Road Assessment Program – the umbrella program for road assessment programs worldwide working to save lives.
Applied in Australia as AusRAP, it provides an assessment of the risk on a road through Star Ratings where 5 Stars is the safest and 1 Star the least safe.
"iRAP Star Ratings assessments deliver an important role in achieving our national goal of no deaths and serious injuries on our roads by 2050. I am pleased to continue my work as an accredited professional at NTRO. As iRAP’s Centre of Excellence in Australia, NTRO delivers an essential role to achieve Vision Zero." said Damian Rodrigo.
“Damian joins a small group of experts who have been accredited by iRAP as possessing the skills, and knowledge, to accurately conduct AusRAP coding. His skills are being used to assess roads for state transport agencies and mine sites, providing them with valuable intel on the road safety risk across their road networks.” said Emily McLean, NTRO’s Leader in Infrastructure Safety. “Damian has been trained by our in-house accredited experts Noha Elazar and Graeme Kashmer, who have over 20 years of AusRAP experience between them.”
NTRO has already assisted in providing tens of thousands of kilometres of road infrastructure risk assessment throughout Australia and internationally, helping ensure safer roads and informed investment decisions for local governments, state transport agencies and other road operators as we work towards a road network with no deaths or serious injuries by 2050.
