NTRO participated in the China–Australia Automotive Cooperation Workshop: Global Partnerships Drive Mobility Innovation on December 02, 2025. The online event, organised by China EV100 and supported by Austrade and Global Renewable Energy & Electric Mobility (GREEM), brought together leaders from government, research and industry to examine opportunities for collaboration across the rapidly growing new energy vehicle (NEV) sector.
Dr Robert Kochhan represented NTRO as a panel member in the session “New Opportunities for Collaborative Development in Australia amidst Global Automotive Industry Transformation.” The discussion explored Australia’s evolving NEV market, the infrastructure and policy settings shaping the transition to cleaner transport, and how global manufacturers and suppliers can better align with local needs and regulatory frameworks. Dr Kochhan outlined NTRO’s research and development activities across decarbonisation, electrification readiness, infrastructure assessment and system integration, providing an evidence-based view of the opportunities and challenges ahead.
Across the workshop, speakers discussed how Chinese automotive enterprises can tailor products to local conditions, integrate into regional industrial and service ecosystems, collaborate with component suppliers on innovation, and build effective after-market support systems for overseas markets.
NTRO’s Dr Charles Karl and Dr Clarissa Han also participated in the workshop and panel sessions, contributing to discussions on safety, data and transport system readiness.
NTRO is proud to support Australia’s pathway toward cleaner, smarter and more resilient transport systems, and in strengthening global partnerships that accelerate innovation across the mobility sector.
