The RQT (Ride Quality Testing) vehicle measures pavement smoothness and road user comfort across the network, providing a clear view of how infrastructure performs in real-world conditions.
Capturing roughness data at traffic speed, the RQT delivers reliable insights without disrupting road users. This data supports network condition monitoring, helps prioritise resurfacing and rehabilitation, and enables comparison between baseline and post-construction performance.
The RQT uses laser-based measurement systems to assess pavement roughness in terms of International Roughness Index (IRI) and NAASRA values, providing industry-recognised metrics for performance evaluation.
Data is captured at traffic speed using high-resolution sensors, ensuring consistent and repeatable measurement across the network while minimising disruption.
The system complies with relevant test methods, including NATA-accreditation for Queensland operations.
