Road safety in Tasmania - NTRO speaks with ABC Radio

Road in Burnie, Tasmania

NTRO road safety expert Emily McLean appeared on ABC Radio to discuss road safety in both Tasmania and generally with ABC Radio's Kylie Baxter.

Imagine coming across a person driving a ute on a highway while eating a meal using chopsticks.

This was one of the frightening listener stories phoned into Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) Radio Hobart during this discussion on road safety.

In 2024, the road toll rose for a fourth consecutive year in Australia. It's the first time this has happened since the 1960s - and is a concerning trend which begs the question whether current road safety methods and campaigns are working.

NTRO Infrastructure Safety Leader Emily McLean is a guest on this segment with ABC Radio's Kylie Baxter. Emily talked about NTRO’s Road Safety Revolution plan, ways to combat the year-upon-year rise in lives lost on our roads, and the concerning escalation of poor driver behaviour.
