Moves are under way to ensure that electric vehicle batteries are properly renewed or recycled ahead of EV technology becoming more mainstream in Australia.
With the uptake of electric vehicles growing, and expected to grow more rapidly in the next few years, a sustainable circular economy for electric and hybrid vehicle batteries is critical.
The Innovative Mechatronics (IM) Group and ARRB have produced a White Paper on fostering a sustainable circular economy for the recycling of EV batteries.
IM Group’s Dickson Leow – formerly of ARRB – and ARRB’s Dr Robert Kochhan put the report together, exploring concepts on life cycle, manufacturing, the 3Rs (reduce, remanufacture and recycle), jobs, policies and the circular economy.
