NTRO, along with Microfleet and sponsor FB Ideas, has launched an e-micromobility pilot program at NTRO headquarters within Fishermans Bend, exploring sustainable solutions for "last mile” transportation from Southern Cross Station. The six-month trial period introduces a fleet of shared e-micromobility vehicles made available to participating NTRO staff.

A charging station was installed along with the supplied 4 vehicles (two e-scooters and two e-bikes). Individuals can book a vehicle to commute to and from work, and around the Fishermans Bend area. Microfleet CEO Al Reid, NTRO expert Ronny Kutadinata, and Marina Monz from FB Ideas outlined the program’s vision as well as demonstrated the vehicles, app and charging system. The initiative represents a first step toward understanding the viability of e-micromobility solutions in the precinct.
The project aims to identify barriers to e-micromobility adoption, analyse usage patterns, and document operational requirements for fleet management. Through geolocation data collection and regular staff surveys, the trial will provide insights into factors influencing active transport choices
This proof-of-concept study will inform potential expansion to other businesses in the area and, ultimately, the general public. The findings will contribute to understanding the business and funding models needed for broader implementation.
